Not to be repetitive, but I cannot overstate the importance of hydration! Be vigilant and hydrate before, during and after your flight. Drink water with minerals, morning, noon and night!
Become a strong advocate of wholesome nutrition. After all, strong nutrition is the key to your optimum health, especially when you travel often. This ensures optimal cell function and, yes, this is the essence of vibrant health.
W HAT KIND OF SUPPORT DO YOU NEED IF YOU ARE AN HSP ?
In my years of practice (and being an HSP) I have worked with many HSPs and people who have endured years of chronic debilitating symptoms that were not properly diagnosed by their doctors. My protocol is to first identify whether the person is an HSP with the following steps :
My first step is to do a thorough medical evaluation in order to identify and treat any specific conditions that may be responsible for the symptoms. I address my patient’s overall nutritional habits, hormones, immune system, digestive health (including parasites), nervous system and toxicity levels.
Next I evaluate and identify any psychological conditions that may be responsible for symptoms. I have my patients talk about any problems in their home or work life, any history of mental illness or other problems that might not be readily apparent.
Then I have my patients assess their workplace and home for factors that might contribute to the presented symptoms, including indoor air pollution, excessive noise, poor lighting or flickering light and ergonomic factors. A reduction of stress and other improvements in the work situation might be appropriate.
I have used this approach in my practice for years, and it has not only helped people reclaim their health and to get off their synthetic drugs when possible, but it has empowered my HSP people in particular to make daily choices that promote mood elevation and depression-free lives and to actually know what “feeling good” feels like.
I respectfully dedicate this chapter to all the flight attendants, TSA agents, pilots, ground crew, air traffic controllers, frequent fliers and those who work in the transportation business on a day-to-day basis. I can say, for sure, that not one of my frequent-flying clients always loves the travel part of their job. Complaints abound, like “I feel tired all the time” or “I am out of sync with life” or “My sleep patterns are never normal.”
It is important for each of you to know that you are not crazy, that you are not depressed due to a genetic predisposition, and that the industry in which you live and work and the travel choices you make are contributing to the unrest you feel inside. The good news is that, as the HCT, you have endless choices and strategies to use daily to keep yourself in the happy, healthy green zone.
